Your first session will be free if you self-refer. This is our opportunity to get to know each other and look at whether counselling is the right thing for you and if I am the right counsellor for you. It is a good time to discuss any worries or questions you may have about counselling.
Counselling will often touch on difficult emotions and troubling past events. Although you will never be pushed into looking at these, it is sensible to prepare for the fact they are likely come up naturally during counselling, even in the first session.
When we start counselling, we make a verbal agreement with each other. This sets the boundaries of our work together, making sure it is a safe space.
